sangvis ferri is not a name.

sangvis ferri is a title and rank. it comes from garlean, corrupted, for blood and iron. the original reason for the name has been long lost to time, but the undying resilience of the name stays.

the original sangvis ferri was a tempestuous miqo'te with a tendency towards self-destruction and a bad habit of blowing up anything that threatened him and those he cherished. his story comes to an end after a mission gone wrong for the dreadwyrm crew, disappearing into a hellfire finale in the yanxian wilderness.

the body was never found, but in the ashes, one au'ra with nowhere to go and nothing to lose takes up his lost weapons to survive. his old comrades find her soon enough, heavy with the loss and the spilled blood.

now, this new sangvis ferri, this new myth, new legend, steps into the shadow of the old name, taking up the weight of it—the blade, the history, the blood on the hands. it's a cruel life, with too many things to cut down before her,

but she wouldn't have it any other way.

officially, sangvis ferri is a mercenary on loan to the dreadwyrm crew—never mind the bastardized echo holding her to the crew like a promise or a blessing. the first part is only true for the previous holder of the name; the second, however, is true to both the old and the new sangvis ferri, through some cruel twist of fate.

having inherited the weapons of the fallen, sangvis ferri plays as the crew's gunbreaker, equal parts violence and protector. like the one before her, she is almost obsessively protective of those she holds close to her heart.

outside of the battlefield, sangvis is quietly assertive, with a hint of teasing in the curve of her lips and no small amount of doting to those she's fond of. one way to describe her is she feels like an older sister. despite this, she's bad at telling whether people are lying or not.

they say she never was one to play savior, but more often than not she finds herself loving a little too much, a little too bright, to the point of martyrdom. if you ask around, you'll find that the last sangvis ferri was the same bright star of self-sacrifice.

it seems, with her, something else echoes.

if you work in the criminal underworld, the name sangvis ferri might be familiar to you. a name associated with well-honed violence and secrets not meant for the light of day; the current sangvis ferri is no different from the last. ask and you shall receive, be it information or protection—provided that you have the gil, of course.

at the moment, she is contracted to the first circle of the dreadwyrm crew. despite being only a contract, she is intensely loyal to them.

if you're familiar with the situation in doma, you might've caught rumors of a wandering blademaster infamous for hunting down rivals on the ruby sea for some pirate lord or so. prior to her disappearance, she was responsible for the deaths of at least four pirate lords, two garlean centurions, and one airship.

then, she took on the name sangvis ferri.
